Cayuga St.   ANNE HILLS WINS BEST OF BOUND FOR GLORY AWARD Now, forty years and more than 1,200 concerts later, WVBR's Bound for Glory continues to provide free, live folk concerts on over thirty Sunday evenings per year. Stop by the Cafe at Anabel Taylor Hall on the Cornell University campus, or tune in on WVBR, in Ithaca or on the Internet. The show runs from 8 to 11 pm (ET) and there are three live sets at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30.

First get your cell phone and a date book.  There is one to your left.  Then you get this site on the date book, and then click on Ithaca Concerts, Concerts and Entertainment, Theatre, or Entertainment websites for the evenings entertainment.  Then if you want something very good to go actually dinning out too, and not a rush job, you go to the Ithaca Recommended Restaurants for one hell of a great evening.  In the end it will become more easy to plan, and you really do not even have to sit at home to do it.

Starting this month, these events will be held on the third Saturday of every month at 4:00 pm. Come join us as we celebrate the works of poets of yesterday and today. Gary Weissbrot, owner, and Sue Perlgut, events coordinator Author Nabina Das Reads Footprints In The Bajra Saturday, April 17 at 4 pm Author Nabina Das will read from her new book, Footprints In The Bajra.  This novel is about a young Maoist recruit named Muskaan from Bihar who meets Nora, a student-activist from New Delhi. The story of Muskaan's transition in belief and action unfolds in this work that travels across idioms. This is the first novel for writer Nabina Das who has won awards for her poetry and short stories. A multilingual author with a Linguistics Masters, Nabina writes in three languages and is an editor with the literary journal Danse Macabre (USA). Nabina Das lives two lives, shuttling between the USA and India. Her poetry and short stories have been published in a variety of literary journals and anthologies in North America, India and Australia. Selected as an Associate Fellow for the prestigious Sarai-CSDS Fellowship 2010 (New Delhi, India), Nabina has won prizes in the poetry contests organized by Prakriti Foundation (Chennai, India) in 2009, and by HarperCollins-India and Open Space in 2008 (India). Nabina is also a 2007 Joan Jakobson fiction scholar from Wesleyan Writers' Conference, and a 2007 Julio Lobo fiction scholar from Lesley Writers' Conference. A journalist and media person in India and the US for about 10 years in all, Nabina blogs at http://fleuve-souterrain.blogspot.com/ when not writing. Formally trained in Indian classical music, she has performed in radio and TV programs and acted in street theater productions in India. A Youth Works-In-Progress Reading Join us on April 18! Sunday, April 18, 4 to 5:30   The young writers participating in this non-juried reading are from 10 years old to seniors in high school.  These are serious young writers who will share a piece of writing (poems, a novel, personal narrative, collection of short stories or essays) they hope someday to publish. These young authors include students who are homeschooled or enrolled in many of our local public and private schools.  Each writer will read for five minutes. There will be a reception after the reading.   Readers in alphabetical order: Tia Bernagozzi, a fifth grader at Ithaca Waldorf School, will be reading from a novel she has been working on since second grade. April Carroll,a seventh grader at Boynton Middle School, will be reading her novel Time Capturedin which Danielle a 16 year old girl must figure out how to deal with being "time gone." " Aliya Cowie,a seventh grader at Boynton Middle School, will read an excerpt from a book about an elf whose friend has been kidnapped by an opposing group. In the process of rescuing the friend, the elf becomes a heroine. Alex Mason Grazzo, a tenth grader at New Roots School, will be reading an excerpt from her novel Heartless Devil(the title of which is still under debate), about a young woman who dresses as a man for respect, who is on her way to the Heartless Devil's castle. Madeline Horrigan,a sixth grader at Boynton Middle School, invites you to join Gigi Dreams and Lenny on their mind-boggling, time-traveling, and extravagant adventure in the 31st century. Phoebe Lakin, an eighth grader in Elizabeth Ann Clune Montessori School, will be reading a short story and two poems. Cora Moss,a home-schooled ninth grader, will be reading her book about four best friends as they go through their junior year of high school and deal with drama, boys, and growing up. Anu Pruitt,a seventh grader at Elizabeth Ann Clune Montessori School, will be reading a short story that is an alternate myth about the constellation Andromeda. Ana Malina Ramanujan, a fourth grader at Beverly J. Martin School, will read her recent work Jack and Jill Revisited. Maggie Sawyer,a ninth grader at Lehman Alternative School, will be reading a short story inspired by a Monet painting. Phoebe Shalloway,an eighth grader at Boynton Middle School, will be reading a rather melancholy short story, Cherry Blossom Road, as well as two short poems. Robin Trumbleattends New Roots School.
